The centennial issue of the AFS Janus was published exactly one hundred years after A. Piatt Andrew negotiated an agreement with the French military to have ambulance units comprised of American volunteers serve closer to the front lines of battle—a group that later became known as the American Field Service (AFS).  This issue highlights the founding of AFS during World War I, and the many ways AFSers around the world are commemorating and celebrating that event.
