What is the AFS Global You™ Adventurer program?

Would you like to make friends around the world from your home? AFS Global You Adventurer is here to help you do that!

This is a one-of-a-kind online program where you will learn about connecting with people across cultures and become part of a global community. In addition to having fun, you’ll learn from AFS intercultural learning experts based on more than 70 years of experience running exchange programs and other education programs in more than 60 countries.

In this online program, you will explore:

How you can stand for issues you really care about and help make the world a better place

How long is the program?

The program includes 20 different modules. It takes around 16 hours to complete over 4 weeks. You will also be able to attend 4 special facilitated live online sessions where you will connect with up to 25 peers⁠—and a Global You coach—from all around the world to exchange ideas, share reflections and be inspired.

What do I need to participate in this program?

Do I need to understand or speak English?

Currently, the program is run in English with videos subtitled in English and Spanish. All the live sessions will be facilitated in English. We recommend that you know enough English to be able to:

Understand the live sessions

Are you shy about speaking in English? Don’t worry about that!

People from all over the world are taking this course, so most of the students have different levels of English. Everyone is welcome! This is also an opportunity for you to practice and grow your language skills.

What is the tuition fee for this program?

Participating in AFS Global You program requires a one time only payment of USD$315.

Tuition includes:

Membership in a customized global group with up to 25 other peers from around the world
16 hours of fun and learning featuring AFS’s award-winning and research-backed Global Competence Certificate
Up to 20 online modules with video instructions subtitled in Spanish and English
A closed online forum for connecting and sharing with global peers
Interactive quizzes and assignments to help you reflect and learn
Live online facilitated dialogue sessions run by specially trained AFS Qualified Facilitators
Your own AFS Global Competence Certificate upon program completion
Lifetime access to the 105+ years-strong AFS Global Network

Are there any scholarships for this program?

Yes! Thanks to our generous donors, we have up to 25 partial scholarships available for the AFS Global You Adventurer program. To apply, you will need to share how your community could be improved by embracing the power of diversity. If selected, you will receive a US$200 scholarship discount from the AFS Global You Adventurer tuition. To enroll and take advantage of the scholarship, you must pay a tuition contribution of US$115. Please note: Partial scholarship funds are not guaranteed. Scholarship award amounts are based on the funds available at the time of application.

Information for Parents

(Venezuela to Germany, 2009)

A physician on the front lines of the Covid-19 pandemic in Chile, a country that has the third most coronavirus cases in Latin America, says her global superpower is understanding people and using empathy to give the best care in these challenging times.

Christine Lagarde

(France to USA, 1973)

President of the European Central Bank, this noted antitrust and labor lawyer and longtime advocate for women’s equality has urged policymakers to reform fiscal policies, invest in infrastructure and create jobs and strengthen the role of women in the world economy.
