What is it?

The AFS Impact House is an intimate, residential training program designed to help AFS Partner Directors and Senior Managers to integrate social innovation and business acumen in their work for maximum impact. AFS redesigned the Leadership Transition Training for new Partner Directors in Partnership with the Center for Social Impact Strategy from the University of Pennsylvania.

In this training you will:

Learn from Ivy-league educators in our historic halls
Acquire and develop strategic perspectives
Practice leadership skills and gain practical tools you need to implement new strategies and drive change across the organization
Find time to relax and work in collaboration with Partner Directors from across the network in Pennsylvania’s natural surroundings.

Who should take this course?

This training opportunity is for Partner Directors, Senior Leadership and high potentials in the Network who are:

Willing to become a change agent who will allow AFS Organizations to evolve and grow
Interested in integrating social innovation and business acumen in their daily work
Open to new learning and ideas
Interested in further developing their skills as a leader

The AFS Impact House is organized by the Center for Social Impact Strategy. They are a research and action center based in the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy & Practice.

The Center Provides trainings and tools to individuals with innovative visions who seek to have a social impact around the world. They are also committed to developing a deeper understanding of the distinctive strategies adopted by changemakers as they seek to innovate and generate social impact. And finally, they’re creating a thriving global community of the best social innovators that give to the growth and success of the whole.

What is the workload?

6-week pre-event online course (approx. 2-4 hours per week).
Full attendance at the Live Event (7 full days) in Philadelphia, USA.
Implementing what you have learned in your Network Organization upon your return from the in-person event.

Why is it important?

The program is a key outcome of the Human Capital Development Network Strategy Project.
It addresses a key concern raised by different leadership bodies: the professional development of our staff. Implementing our Network strategy will require a new mindset, and leaders and key managers who are ready and prepared to lead their organizations towards greater impact.

Limited Scholarships Available

AFS International has a limited amount of scholarships available for Partners to attend the AFS Impact House. These are given out based on the financial situation and health of the Partner Organization.
